Nippon Ginger Jars

I purchased these 2 jars.  They have no markings on the bottom but the inside of each lid is marked Nippon.  The lid to one was broken into several pieces and then glued back together.  One has several chips and the other has one.  They stand about 6 1/2" tall and are about 6" wide.

Are they ginger jars or for something else?  How old are they?  Are they from 1891 -1921 when the Nippon marked was used?  Are they enamel?

depending on the size, they could be used for tea, the larger ones would be a ginger jar and the smaller ones for tea, I would date this to the later 1920's , you do know that Nippon means Japan and you are right on your dates when this mark was used.
